A video of a violent brawl at a hotel pool in Santa Susanna, Catalonia, has sparked strong reactions in Spain and the United Kingdom after a 13-year-old girl was injured during the incident.
The incident took place at a tourist complex on the Costa Brava, where a dispute over the use of a sunbed allegedly quickly escalated from a verbal argument to a physical fight between tourists.
According to reports, a man involved in the conflict hit the 13-year-old, causing facial injuries and a broken nose. Footage posted on social media shows scenes of panic, with tourists trying to separate the parties and children fleeing the pool area in fear.
The situation further deteriorated when other people were involved in the conflict, causing chaos in the hotel premises. Some customers were evacuated or locked in their rooms for safety.
The minor was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she received medical treatment for her injuries. Her family then left the hotel following the incident.
Catalan authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, analyzing security camera footage and witness statements. No arrests have been reported so far.
