WHO: Unsafe food causes 866 million illnesses and 1.5 million deaths each year

Unsafe food continues to be one of the biggest threats to public health in the world.

According to new estimates published by the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 866 million cases of illness and 1.5 million deaths are recorded each year related to the consumption of contaminated food.

Children under 5 years old, the most at risk group

According to the report, children under the age of five are almost three times more likely to fall ill from unsafe food compared to adults and older children.
