Albania is experiencing a dark period and many know this, but the disasters that are happening to this blessed country with a cursed government have not stopped. The latest disaster is the “gift” of Edi Rama and Blendi Gonxha who take Albanian taxpayers’ money to cover the commercial risk of private entities, specifically the Kanye West concert.
The Rama government continues to mock this suffering people day after day, but let’s start from the beginning…
This Saturday, July 11, controversial rapper Kanye West is expected to hold a concert on the outskirts of Tirana. Edi Rama’s government plans to spend more than 4 million euros for the event, including the construction of a temporary arena.
Despite the huge political pressure in the country, the authorities continue to support the project. According to Rama, his government made this amount available “at the last minute” so as not to embarrass Albania in front of the approximately 25,000 foreign visitors (imaginary, of course) who had already bought tickets for the concert.
So, to put it bluntly, Rama doesn’t care at all about the thousands of Albanians who have been protesting against him for more than 6 weeks and demanding his resignation, but he will brag to foreigners that he brings foreign artists to Albania and fills the stadium to capacity (by giving away tickets). Even though those funds could have been used to buy equipment to put out the fires that are devastating the country.
The state cannot socialize private losses, but Rama, to appear, does the opposite.
In fact, Rama and Kanye have one very big thing in common, they are both unwanted characters.
Tens of thousands of people are already protesting against the way Rama is governing as Albania’s prime minister. They accuse him of corruption, authoritarianism, and being subservient to Trump.
Even Kanye West is not well received when he appears in public, as due to his numerous anti-Semitic statements, he has become unwelcome in many countries, which have even canceled his concerts.
The power-drunk Gonxha
In addition to Rama, his subordinate, the pampered Blendi Gonxhja, who was also the proponent of this ‘madness’, is now also being ridiculed.
The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Blendi Gonxhja, calls criticism of the government’s allocation of 4 million euros for Kanye West’s concert in Tirana a “quixotic battle against a global-level singer.”
Gonxha clearly seems to be intoxicated by the power Rama has given him and is now treating Albanians as an endless treasury for his propaganda and pleasures.
Gonxha linked the indignation to the protest that has been taking place for more than a month in front of the prime minister’s office, which he said has been eroded due to vested interests.
“A quixotic battle against an extraordinary singer, with one of the most extraordinary performances on a global level. There is an artist named Ye who apparently did not spare, this movement that at the beginning had a completely different spirit that was born due to an indignation due to an event in Zvërnec and had a completely different expression, a type of demand, very high expectations of a group of people who were of a completely different quality. From this we then moved to a forced and suppressed movement within a group of interests, a group that had an increasingly greater wrinkle due to extremism, the language of violence, a great lack of trust in those who led by not letting anyone climb the podium, voting with their hands in the air in the square, the document of the National Assembly, a completely delirious story. We share that part of the citizens who believe, as there are many of them who have more and have decided to emigrate, to raise their children in more developed countries. The years pass “and people take good things for granted, a good part of people lose touch with reality. We have a lack of understanding and dishonesty towards ourselves because we cannot necessarily wake up and say we were Germany and Switzerland and we fell into the mud and we will emerge with a movement like the new Albania,” said Gonxha.
But Gonxha’s foolishness has no end with the way he tries to justify the wasted money of Albanians. The Kanye West concert was a predetermined project to be covered by self-financing, Gonxha explained, but the intervention of 4 million euros from the government occurred due to a difficulty. He further emphasizes that the realization of the concert was an obligation, a promise that had to be kept.
“The costs were as reasonable as possible all the time. It was launched before the protests and an obligation to keep our word. Due to the difficulty and cost that there was a complication in the organization, the specific conditions of this installation and assembly of this temporary stadium in Kashar, the aspects related to the technical part of this delicate, fragile project,” said the minister./ AL, Boldnews.al
