New details have come to light about the murder of 24-year-old Albanian Nurian Dalipaj in Italy, an event that shook the town of Vescovato, in the province of Cremona, on Sunday evening. According to investigations by Italian authorities, everything is suspected to be related to motives of passion and a conflict that had been going on for a long time.
On the sidewalk of “Via Bissolati”, in front of the “Bar Centrale” and the “Piazza Roma” square, blood stains continue to mark the spot where the fatal collision occurred.
Mattia Miraglia, 32, originally from Sicily, a driver and resident of Vescovato, has been arrested for the incident. He is accused of stabbing Nurian Dalipaj in the throat, who died a short time later in hospital, while also seriously injuring the victim’s 20-year-old brother, by stabbing him in the stomach. Miraglia himself suffered an injury to his hand during the fight and is currently hospitalized at the Maggiore Hospital under police supervision, in a state of arrest, while being investigated for the criminal offenses of murder and attempted murder.
According to the reconstruction of the event by the carabinieri, the conflict had started a few hours earlier in a bar in Cremona, where the 32-year-old’s ex-partner works. At around 11 p.m., Miraglia went to the bar and saw the young woman talking to Nurian Dalipaj, whom authorities describe as an old friend of the girl, as well as another person who has not yet been identified.
Investigators suspect that Miraglia asked the Albanian to leave the bar to clarify the situation. Initially, there was a verbal argument between them, but then the conflict escalated into a physical fight with fists. The people present intervened and managed to separate them, temporarily ending the fight.
After this episode, the 32-year-old left in his vehicle and returned to his apartment on Via Cairoli, in Vescovato. However, the incident did not end there.
According to the version that the carabinieri are investigating, a short time later Nurian Dalipaj arrived in front of Miraglia’s house together with his two brothers. When he heard their arrival, the 32-year-old came down from the apartment holding a kitchen knife and asked them to leave. The situation escalated again into a fight, which this time ended tragically.
After the stabbings, the three Dalipaj brothers drove to the Maggiore Hospital in Cremona. Nurian Dalipaj arrived in critical condition and, despite the efforts of doctors, did not survive his injuries. His 20-year-old brother underwent surgery and is in the intensive care unit, where doctors say his condition is stable.
Friends of the suspected perpetrator have told Italian media that they did not expect the conflict to end in the loss of life. According to them, the cause of the dispute was a girl with whom both had had a relationship at different times.
They claim that tensions between the two young men had been brewing for a long time and that about a month ago Dalipaj had also gone to Miraglia’s apartment, who had then notified the carabinieri. According to his friends, this time too he should have sought police help, but events took a tragic turn.
Meanwhile, the small community of Vescovato remains shaken by the incident. Mayor Alfredo Gorni has said that it is a serious episode that does not represent the values and spirit of the city’s community, while investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the crime continue.
