New details have come to light regarding the arrest of five people in Saranda, suspected of having traveled to the city to carry out an assassination attempt.
It is learned that the two perpetrators who were caught with weapons in the Gjashtë area, Sidorel Moriseni and Alfred Kaja, 26 years old, were near the apartment of businessman Rexhep Ismaili, who was murdered in May of this year in the city.
From the statements given to the police, the suspects refused to provide details about their purpose, while they also denied the accusation that they had gone to Saranda to commit a murder.
Investigators are verifying whether their detention was accidental or whether the incident may be related to people close to Rexhep Ismail.
Preliminary suspicions are that the group may have targeted a person in the village of Gjashtë, but so far his identity has not been revealed, as the arrested have refused to cooperate with the investigative group.
Meanwhile, during the operation, three other people were arrested, suspected of the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime.” Police say that preliminary investigations suspect that the group had traveled to Saranda with the intention of committing a murder.
During the search, 2 firearms, pistols, combat ammunition, 1 silencer and 2 vehicles were seized.
