The leader of the UK Reform Party, Nigel Farage, has stated that people who have gone to the UK and committed murder or rape should be sent to serve their sentences in prisons abroad, mentioning Kosovo as an option.
In a post on social media, he wrote: “If you came to Britain and killed or raped someone, I will send you to a prison in El Salvador, Kosovo or somewhere else, without any hesitation.” The statement comes as Reform UK unveils its plan to deport all foreign prisoners from British prisons, including the possibility of sending them to third countries.
Farage has been one of the most vocal anti-immigration voices for years. He has called for a freeze on non-essential immigration, the deportation of migrants in Britain illegally and stronger border controls, making immigration a key theme of Reform UK’s agenda.
Reform UK is currently one of the main political forces in Britain. The party led by Farage ranks among the parties with the highest support in national polls, competing with Labour and the Conservatives.
The party has pledged to deport over 10,000 foreign nationals currently serving sentences in British prisons.
Its Home Affairs spokesperson, Zia Yusuf, wrote on the X network that, if the countries of origin do not agree to take them back, the criminals will be sent “to serve their sentence in countries like El Salvador and Kosovo.”
According to British media reports, Nigel Farage has already begun talks with El Salvador, known for its gigantic prisons with very strict security measures.
A Reform UK delegation is expected to travel to the Central American country in the coming months to discuss the possibility of sending foreign criminals to those prisons.
Presenting the party’s prison policy, Zia Yusuf vowed that Reform UK would “change the law so that people who commit serious crimes such as murder, manslaughter, rape and serious acts of violence serve their full sentence.”
“It is unbelievable that there are over 10,000 foreign nationals in British prisons. We will deport all foreign nationals from our prisons. If their countries do not accept them, we will send them to serve their sentences in places like El Salvador and Kosovo. We will use the space created to ensure that dangerous criminals stay where they belong – behind bars,” said Yusuf.
