High temperatures, lack of rainfall and strong winds in certain areas will characterize the weather in the country, in a period when attention remains focused on forest fires. According to the announcement of the Institute of Geosciences, for Tuesday, August 11, no precipitation is expected in the country’s territory, while maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 39 degrees Celsius. Lezha, Tirana, Durrës, Fier and Elbasan are in the red zone where the risk of fires is high.
For today’s afternoon, locally light rainfall is expected only in the regions of Korça, Vlora and Gjirokastër, while no rainfall is expected in the other regions. Tomorrow the situation is expected to be even drier, as no rainfall is expected in any region. The highest temperatures are expected to be recorded in the low-lying areas, where the thermometer will move from 22°C to 39°C. On the coast, temperatures are expected from 23°C to 35°C, while in the mountainous areas from 16°C to 34°C.
Another element that is important in forest fire conditions is the wind. According to the forecast, it will blow light to moderate during this afternoon and Tuesday, but on the coast and mountainous areas it may be strong for moments. The combination of high temperatures, lack of precipitation and wind, especially on the coast and mountainous areas, creates conditions that require increased attention to the sources of fires and the possibility of their spread.
