The Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO) warns of a high risk of forest fires spreading during this afternoon and tomorrow in most of the territory.
According to the IGJEO forecast, the risk level is expected to be “high” in the regions of Shkodër, Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Elbasan, Berat, Fier, Korçë and Gjirokastër.
A “moderate” risk level is expected in the Kukës, Dibër and Vlora districts, while in some localized areas the risk will be high, specifically in the Kukës district, in the central area, southwest of Dibër and northeast of Vlora.
IGEO emphasizes that the risk is expected to be highest on Wednesday, August 12.

Regarding meteorological conditions, no precipitation is expected for this afternoon and tomorrow.

Temperatures are expected to reach high values, with maximums reaching up to 40° Celsius in coastal areas, 41° C in lowlands and 35° C in mountainous areas.

The wind is expected to be light to moderate, while on the coast and in mountainous areas, it may reach strong intensity for moments.
In conditions of high temperatures, lack of precipitation and increased risk of fires, IGEO appeals for increased caution, especially in forest areas and in territories where the risk level is classified as “high”.
