Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded with irony to the continuous calls of protesters demanding his resignation.
Rama has used the phrase “Whoever wants to, let them sing, whoever wants to, let them rest” to show that he does not intend to resign simply because a group of people demands it through chants or a chorus.
Rama also confirmed that he will immediately resign as soon as Albania joins the European Union, for which it is the “icing on the cake” of four mandates in government.
“I like that cry ‘Rama jepeeee doreeehekjen’ and it gives me so much energy that, to be honest, it makes me think I could write another song with it. But beyond the cry, running away from the office entrusted to us by the majority simply because a minority is shouting in chorus is neither a trait of leadership, nor of institutional responsibility, nor of intellectual humility.”
“It is simply an abandonment of a responsibility. Let whoever wants to continue singing. The mission will continue until we raise our flag and Skanderbeg in the European Union,” Rama said.
