Two Albanians in their 20s arrested by the State Police in Savona, Italy, suspected of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
One of them has a criminal record, while the operation was carried out as part of intensified controls against drug trafficking, especially in areas of the city frequented by people addicted to narcotics.
According to Italian authorities, during a surveillance near Giardini delle Trincee, officers observed a drug exchange between two individuals. One of them was immediately detained and during the search, three yellow packets were found, each containing about 0.40 grams of cocaine, as well as 360 euros in his wallet. In the pocket where the police had seen him put his hand after the exchange, another 30 euros were found, which were suspected to have been the proceeds of the drug sale.
According to Italian media, the search was then extended to the apartment where the arrested person was staying, along with the other Albanian who had arrived at the scene. Inside the apartment, the police found narcotics displayed on shelves and a table, as well as materials that were suspected of being used to package the doses. In total, the authorities seized around 44 grams of cocaine. Of these, around 39 grams were still in raw form, while around 4 grams had been divided into 9 doses ready for sale.
During the operation, 1,490 euros were also seized, mainly in small denomination banknotes, two precision scales and a significant amount of yellow cellophane bags, suspected of being used for drug packaging.
Investigations continue to shed light on the activities of the two young men and to determine whether they are part of a wider drug distribution network in the Savona area.
