The family of 45-year-old Albanian Lulieta Obzova who was murdered yesterday in Athens is struggling to cope with the tragedy, while authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crime and whether there were signs that could have warned her.
The victim’s brother, Lulieta Obzova, has told Greek media that her ex-partner, 50-year-old Altin Allmuça, had previously threatened her and that on one occasion he had even pulled out a gun.
“I told her to go to a lawyer and get a protection order,” he stated.
According to family members, after the separation, their relationship became a constant source of fear for the 45-year-old. She was allegedly followed and monitored by her ex-partner, who appeared in her life without warning.
The victim’s brother also indicated that Allmuça allegedly had a spare key to the apartment and entered the house when the woman was at work.
According to him, Lulieta had noticed that some items in the apartment were no longer where she had left them. For this reason, about two weeks before the murder, she decided to change the locks on the house.
Family members say this shows the level of insecurity and fear she had experienced even within her apartment.
The murder occurred in the early hours of the morning. According to current information, the 50-year-old is suspected of waiting for the victim outside the building where she lived.
When the 45-year-old woman appeared, he attacked her. According to evidence collected by authorities, the man neutralized her at the entrance to the building and then shot her. After the crime, he also killed himself.
The victim and the perpetrator had previously been in a relationship, but after the breakup, according to family members, his behavior towards her had escalated.
One of the main questions of the investigation is whether authorities had previously received any information that could be related to the danger to the 45-year-old.
According to information so far, she had not made an official complaint about the threats and persecution that the family says they were experiencing.
However, a check of police records revealed an incident from July 2024, when the woman had contacted the Acropolis Police Department to report the theft of her motorcycle by an ex-partner, without identifying him by name.
Authorities are now reviewing all available evidence and information, with the aim of fully uncovering the events leading up to the murder and determining whether there were signs or warnings that could have prevented the tragedy.
