Socialist MP Erion Braçe has brought his ambition to run for Tirana Mayor in the 2027 local elections back into focus.
In a post on social media, Braçe states that socialists should have the opportunity to choose between alternatives and not simply face a pre-determined candidacy.
Referring to the information that, according to him, is circulating in the field about people who are preparing for the race, Braçe says that this is a good sign for the Socialist Party. “They wrote to me a lot yesterday, the day before, full. There is nothing better than for the SP to have alternatives for a candidate for mayor.
I am one of them and there was no one to tell me to keep working. I have started to get to know the city, to say what I think about the city and to say what is needed for this city to become livable, clean, green and at the top of its game from morning to night.
“It’s a good thing that names are coming out and being encouraged. It shows that there is vitality and energy. But what I think has to do with the fact that I don’t prefer to be an announcement and the socialists will not vote for an announcement. The citizens of Tirana will not vote for an announcement. You submit to the vote and Tirana gets the right person through the vote, not through the announcement,” said Braçe.
