A citizen serving a sentence in Fier prison has lost his life under still unclear circumstances.
Sources at Fier Prison say that 58-year-old Ardjan Malasi had sought medical attention while inside his cell and lost consciousness after being transferred to the infirmary.
He was immediately transported to the Fier hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.
An investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances of the convict’s death.
He was transferred a few months ago from Tirana’s 313 prison and was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Albania to 10 years in prison for laundering the proceeds of crime.
