A difficult situation is being experienced by residents of Levan, Fier, after flames have engulfed homes and various materials.
Meanwhile, the fire continues to spread, favored by the wind.
According to residents, some of the homes and animals were burned, while the air intervention was interrupted after the helicopter ran out of fuel.
One of the residents said that the helicopter had carried out about 20 interventions to extinguish the flames, but it was the only aircraft operating in the area.
“It’s past the one that fell at 10 in the morning. The helicopter ran out of gas,” the resident said.
According to him, the situation on the ground remains difficult due to the lack of water and the limited number of firefighting vehicles.
“With so many fire engines here, we’ve run out of water, there’s no water,” he said.
Residents say the flames have engulfed an entire neighborhood and caused damage to homes and livestock.
“What olives, the cows were burned, the house was burned, the animals were burned,” said one of them, describing the situation in the area.
Meanwhile, the fire continues to spread to other areas.
Residents say that the flames are approaching the Roma neighborhood and, if they continue in this direction, could also include areas with pine trees.
“Others are at risk now, it’s heading towards the Roma neighborhood,” said another resident.
Another concern is the strong wind, which according to residents is favoring the spread of flames and making intervention more difficult.
Faced with the situation, residents are demanding that more firefighting equipment and forces be sent to the area from other regions, as according to them, the current capacities are not sufficient for the size of the fire.
“Firefighters need to come from all over the Republic, because if they don’t come, it’s a problem. All this night, the wind, as you can see, is very favorable,” said the resident.
He described the night ahead as very difficult, adding that such a situation has not been experienced before in that area.
