The latter, a 53-year-old man, has been detained by the Carabinieri of Mercato San Severino as a suspect in the death of his mother.

After the episode, the 53-year-old is suspected of having called the emergency number 112 and told what he had done. He then left the apartment where his mother was.
The Carabinieri found him a short time later, walking on foot through the city streets. After locating him, he was detained as part of the investigation into the case.
