One of the speakers during the protest of thousands of citizens in front of the Prime Minister’s Office was journalist Osman Stafa, who denounced the socio-economic situation in Albania and the scandals in Albanian hospitals, but also the state of education and other issues.
He denounced the behavior of the government and politics over the past 36 years, leaving the country in ruins. He also pointed out the arrogance of the current government.
“We say salaries and pensions, they say Greek. They say we have 83 mandates. When the people come out to the streets, there are no more mandates. They come out now, why now? It’s been 36 years, since I was born, 7 presidents have changed. Is this democracy, the cup is full. Is the cup full? They are panicking, but when the people come out to the streets, there are no more 83 mandates!”, he said.
While denouncing the health and social situation, he said that there is no medicine for cancer patients, while the prime minister is building a 4.3 million euro Garden of Eden in the building.
“Do you know that patients are without medicine, hospitals without equipment, without means. Cancer cannot be cured without equipment. Do you know where the money is being spent, here at the prime minister’s office, there is the Eden Garden, it cost 4.3 million euros and citizens have no medicine. Hospitals have no alcohol, they have no equipment, patients die because the equipment does not work, this is our reality,” said Stafa.
He pointed out that families in economic need receive ridiculous amounts, while apartments cannot be purchased due to the prices. He appealed for this 36-year-old policy to be given a “rest” by the Albanian Diaspora as well.
“Don’t betray this square, it’s the most beautiful square in the world, don’t give up,” the journalist appealed.
His appeal was also accompanied by cries: Rama in prison, Berisha in prison!
The staff also read messages from sick citizens who were unable to join the protest.
