A life-changing choice turned into a nightmare for a 25-year-old Albanian in Italy.
After deciding to end his involvement in drug trafficking and work in the construction sector, he became the target of an assassination attempt, which, according to investigators, was organized by former members of the criminal group with which he collaborated.
Italian authorities have arrested two Albanian citizens, Luigj Makaj, 44, and Armiol Gjoka, 40, known as the suspected perpetrators of the attack. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Makaj is suspected of organizing the assassination, while Gjoka, known by the nickname “Molli”, is the person who opened fire on the young man.
According to Italian media, the incident took place on the evening of July 1 in Mirano, near Venice. Investigations show that the victim had refused to continue his drug distribution activities after securing a job in construction. The decision to leave the criminal group, according to investigators, was initially followed by threats and later by an armed attack.
Investigations have revealed that this was not the first episode. A few months earlier, in late February and early March, armed men had also shot at him and his partner. To escape the attack, the two had taken refuge in a trailer on the girl’s father’s property.

On the evening of the attack, the 25-year-old was confronted by two suspects, who asked him to stop. He tried to run away, but was chased and shot at close range. The bullet hit him between the neck and shoulder. According to the investigation file, even after he fell to the ground wounded, one of the assailants pointed the gun at his head, while both fled only when emergency crews arrived at the scene.
After a month of intensive investigations, based on wiretapping, surveillance, and analysis of telephone communications and social networks, the Carabinieri managed to locate and arrest the two Albanians.
They are now facing charges of attempted murder and have been transferred to two different prisons, while investigations continue to fully elucidate the motives and circumstances of the assassination./Top Channel
