Ikballe Huduti, shortly before being declared “non grata” by the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, has responded to the accusations made against her by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who published a photo of her with former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Rama emphasized in his post that Huduti has held radical positions in the past.
In a Facebook post, Ikballe Huduti writes that he has come out in protest in support of the Albanian people, emphasizing that it is love for Albanians that has pushed him to take to the streets.
She writes that she is Albanian and feels responsible for the Albanian nation, for which she says she does not “sleep peacefully” when she sees the problems it faces.
Full post:
Honorable Prime Minister Edi Rama.
My protest is not motivated by profit, but by patriotic and civic motives. I am the daughter of an Albanian family and have gone through many trials, injustices and difficulties in life. This is precisely why I cannot remain silent in the face of the injustices that affect my people.
Even if my body is no more for a day, my words and my voice will continue to be in the service of truth, justice and human dignity. I do not protest out of hatred towards anyone, but out of love for my people and out of the conviction that every citizen has the right to raise their voice when they think the public interest is being violated.
I call on you and every world leader as well as the EU to listen to the voice of the revolted citizens. History has shown that no power is stronger than the will of an aware people. I believe that dialogue, justice and respect for citizens are the best way to avoid divisions and conflicts.
God is a witness to our deeds. Positions are trusts and responsibilities. When power is used righteously, it becomes a blessing; when misused, it becomes a burden to its holder.
I am Albanian and I feel responsible for the fate of my nation. I cannot sleep peacefully when I see problems affecting our society. I believe that a person is worth as much as he or she cares about the problems of others and as much as he or she tries to contribute to the common good.
I do not seek enmity with anyone. I seek peace with justice, dialogue with respect, and a better Albania for all.
Neither East nor West – Peace with Justice for Albania.
Respectfully: Iqballe Berisha Huduti
