Police officer Anxhelo Kumaraku was injured by gunfire after an assassination attempt that occurred shortly after midnight in the Shkoza area.
According to preliminary information from the investigation group, Tirana Police have announced a search for two brothers, suspected of being the perpetrators of the attack, as well as several other people suspected of collaboration. The investigations show that two firearms were fired at the scene, while 7 cartridges were seized. Officer Kumaraku’s service weapon has been sent for examination to verify whether he fired during the incident.
Sources close to the investigators indicate that the target of the assassination attempt is suspected to have been a neighbor of the officer, with whom he was at the time of the attack. This person appears to have been under house arrest, but is suspected to have broken it at the time of the incident.
According to preliminary information, the two brothers who were wanted had a conflict with this person over a debt issue. It is learned that a few months ago, he had physically assaulted them due to the conflict.
Investigators suspect that the assassination may have been an act of revenge against the officer’s neighbor, but police officer Anxhelo Kumaraku was injured during the shooting.
