The new head of the National Agency for the Information Society, Igli Tafa, was presented at noon today at the premises of the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Tafa was appointed shortly after the dismissal of former director Mirlinda Karçanaj.
Tafa previously held the position of director at the National Cyber Security Authority, a confidant of Prime Minister Rama, who managed millions of lek in this institution.
So far, the official reasons for his presence have not been made public, while the prosecution has not yet reacted to this development.
Sources close to the investigation have not provided details on the nature of Tafa’s appearance at SPAK, leaving it unclear whether he was summoned as a person with knowledge, a witness or in another procedural status. The case has aroused interest due to the important role he currently holds in the state administration.
Tafa took over the leadership of AKSHI only a short time ago, following changes at the top of the institution that manages electronic systems and digital developments in public administration.
It is expected that in the coming hours there will be more information on this appearance and whether it is related to any specific investigation or procedure by SPAK.
