Iran has suspended talks with the US in protest over Israel’s actions in Lebanon, which it said “violated” the ceasefire, semi-official Iranian state media reported.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the Israeli military to attack Beirut’s Dahieh neighborhood, the southern suburb of the city that is a stronghold of Iran-backed Hezbollah.
This comes amid a widening wave of Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon, after Netanyahu said Israel would deepen its offensive.
President Donald Trump had rolled back changes to a proposed deal with Iran, officials said, insisting on tougher language regarding Iran’s nuclear commitments and its promise to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
