The victims, as reported by Albanian media, are: Leonid Alia from Fushë Kosova and Jetmir Çopa from Pristina.
It is learned that 5 young people were swept away by the waves after they went in to bathe. Their afternoon on the coast of Shëngjin resulted fatal with two of them losing their lives. It is learned that the other two young people were pulled from the water and are in serious condition in hospital.
Search and rescue forces and the State Police have intervened at the scene, and are working to fully clarify the circumstances of the event and document it.

New details have emerged from the tragedy that occurred this afternoon on the coast of Shëngjin, where two young men lost their lives after being swept away by the waves of the sea.
Sources indicate that 3 other people are hospitalized in Lezha hospital, fortunately out of danger.
The serious incident has also been confirmed by the Lezha coastguard, who report that 5 citizens from Kosovo drowned at sea, where unfortunately 2 of them died.
“According to preliminary information from the Emergency Department of the Lezha Regional Hospital, 2 of the citizens have lost their lives, while the other 3 citizens are receiving medical assistance,” the Police report.
It is also reported that there was no watchtower at the scene, otherwise known as “Rana e Hedhun”, which caused the immediate death of the young men, suspected to be Kosovo Albanians, as there was no coast guard to save them.
Tragedy at “Rana e Hedhun”, waves “kidnap” 4 young people, 2 VICTIMS, the other two fighting for their lives.
It is also reported that in the Rana e Hedhun area there were no red flags in the sea, which are used as signals for vacationers not to enter the sea, on days when the situation seems dangerous, like today when the sea is said to have been more turbulent.
The 2 young men mark the first victims of this summer season on the coast of Shëngjin.
So far, the victims remain unidentified, while new details are expected to emerge in the future.
Shëngjin, Lezhë/Preliminary information
At around 4:30 PM, the Police services received a report that in the Rana e Hedhun area, in Shëngjin, several citizens who had entered the sea to bathe, as a result of the waves caused by the strong wind, were in difficulty and at risk of drowning.
Immediately after receiving the notification, Border Police services, the services of the Lezha Local Police Directorate, as well as emergency services, went to the given address.
Thanks to the immediate response of citizens with Jet Skis, in cooperation with the Police services, it was possible to retrieve 5 citizens from Kosovo from the sea, who were urgently transported to the Lezha Regional Hospital for medical assistance.
According to preliminary information from the Lezha Regional Hospital Emergency Department, 2 of the citizens have lost their lives, while the other 3 citizens are receiving medical assistance.
The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, continues its actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
