A large-scale operation has been underway since the early hours of the morning in Saranda and Ksamil, following an investigation launched by the Saranda Prosecutor’s Office into illegal construction.
According to preliminary information, the Prosecution has issued over dozens of arrest warrants for officers of the Saranda Police Commissariat, local officials, as well as businessmen and builders suspected of having links to illegal activity in coastal areas.
The operation is being carried out by the Vlora Local Police Directorate in cooperation with the Saranda Police Station, while the checks have been extended to several homes and business premises.
It is learned that only two arrest warrants have been executed. It is learned that an officer of the Saranda Police Station and a businessman have been arrested, whose identities have not yet been made public by the authorities.
Meanwhile, police forces continue to search for and capture other persons wanted in the framework of this operation.
