Miracle under the rubble! Newborn pulled out alive 32 hours after earthquake in Venezuela

A newborn baby has been rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building, 32 hours after two earthquakes devastated Venezuela.

Video obtained by AFP shows rescue teams working under floodlights on a pile of rubble and pulling the baby out of the mud in the country’s worst-hit city, La Guaira.

The footage shows the moment when rescue team members hand over the baby, wrapped in a blanket, to each other, then carefully clean it with wipes.

The baby, just 18 days old, emerged unharmed from the rubble after being trapped for 32 hours. Meanwhile, the baby’s mother was rescued an hour later.

At least 920 people have died and thousands more have been injured after two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck the north of the country on Wednesday, leaving more than 50,000 missing.
