A prison police officer and an inmate have been arrested in flagrante delicto at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, after the discovery of a quantity of suspected narcotics inside the institution.
According to the Supervisory Agency for the Execution of Criminal Decisions System, citizens AP, a police officer at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, and AM, a prisoner at this institution, have ended up in handcuffs.
They are suspected of the criminal offenses of “Introducing or Possessing Prohibited Items in the Institution for the Execution of Imprisonment Sentences” and “Production and Sale of Narcotics”.
The case was solved after an inspection carried out by AMSEVP in cooperation with the General Directorate of Prisons.
During the verifications, it was found that the prison police officer, while performing his duty in the premises of the Penitentiary Institution, had given the prisoner a quantity of suspected cocaine-type narcotics.
The item was seized as material evidence, while relevant procedural actions were taken against two individuals.
AMSEVP informs that investigations are continuing to fully document the circumstances of the incident and to verify whether there are other similar cases within the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës.
