Rama, afraid of the algorithm, issues a strict order to MPs: Be more active

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with the Socialist Party parliamentary group, where the focus of discussions was on recent political developments and the government’s way of communicating with the public.

Main message: You need to be more active online

According to sources, Rama has emphasized that the majority should significantly increase its presence on social networks, asking ministers and MPs to be more active in promoting the government’s work.

He expressed that, in his opinion, institutional communication is not receiving enough attention on online platforms and that projects and investments should be accompanied by more argumentation and public presentation.

Rama also commented on the way some videos are shared on social networks, citing as an example footage of a convoy of cars linked to the diaspora, which according to him are often interpreted in an exaggerated manner for the “virality” effect.

 Debate within the parliamentary group

During the meeting, there were also internal discussions between the Prime Minister and MP Erion Braçe, where Rama expressed reservations about the frequent posts that focus on various issues, while Braçe insisted that denouncing them is necessary until they are resolved.

Meanwhile, the discussion about activist Marjana Koçeku did not continue, as Rama intervened, preventing the topic from expanding during the parliamentary group debate.

Protest and the “world of algorithms”

Rama emphasized that, according to him, the protest has created an amplified reality in the digital space, where information is often distributed faster than its verification.

He said that for about 20 days the country has been involved in a “digital vortex” much larger than the actual size of Albania, adding that today the square functions as a “studio” that produces materials for social networks.

In this context, the Prime Minister has criticized the way in which, according to him, narratives are created and spread on the internet.

He also mentioned the issue known as “Aruba”, saying that it has been recycled on social media until it has become a “perceived truth”, despite his denials.

Rama has emphasized that this is a clear example of how, according to him, algorithms can distort public reality.

Narta and external influences

According to the Prime Minister, the great attention paid to Narta and Zvërnec is not only related to environmental issues, but is also influenced by international names and figures who have increased its resonance online.

He has also spoken of “digital mercenaries” and foreign influences on online narratives, claiming that some of them are even sponsored by certain states.

Message to socialists

During the internal part of the meeting, Rama also addressed the SP deputies, saying that within the socialist family there are individuals who are shaken by these developments or who view the European project with skepticism.

He emphasized that Albania is not a “hashtag”, but a major political and historical project.

Diaspora lands in Tirana

Tirana is preparing for a protest that is expected to gather a significant number of citizens, including immigrants from the diaspora who have arrived in the country today.

Its organizers and supporters speak of a high participation, while in the capital, increased movement of citizens coming from different cities in the country and abroad has been noticed.

On social networks and in statements distributed by various groups, it has been emphasized that this protest aims to have a large public resonance, while the participation of the diaspora is being seen as an element that gives it more symbolic and organizational weight./©Boldnews
