Rama begins withdrawal for the “strategic investments” law: We are working with the EU on a new law

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that they are working with the European Union to amend the Law on Strategic Investments when asked by foreign journalists whether this law is one of the conditions that the union has set for integration.

The Prime Minister said that the much-criticized law was never unfair, but added that he would “leave it out” because they no longer need it. He announced that they are working with the EU to create a new law on strategic investments.

“The Strategic Investment Law has never been unfair. Many people who talk about it don’t even know what they’re talking about, but the good thing is that we’re going to leave it out because it has fulfilled its mission and it doesn’t matter. It’s not like we’re fighting for it, we’re just going to leave it out. The Strategic Investment Law has helped us finally bring some investments to this country that otherwise wouldn’t have happened.

Now we no longer need the law on strategic investments because capital is coming in and big investors are coming. In fact, they don’t want to bother with the facilities. Of course, they want protected status, but we have no problems with that. It is part of the negotiating framework and we are working on a new law on investments, we are working with the EU. Everything we do is based on EU standards,” Rama said.
