Journalist Basir Çollaku has stated that the Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) is expected to address the Parliament again with a second request for the lifting of immunity and the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
According to Çollaku, the new request has already been formulated by SPAK and is expected to be filed with the Rules and Mandates Committee within this week.
He claims that the investigative file contains additional evidence related to allegations of corruption and money laundering within a structured criminal group.
According to him, after the rejection of the first request by Edi Rama, the investigations have continued and have brought new elements to the file and now Balluk must hand over the 82 mandates.
“SPAK is ready to return to the Assembly with another request to lift the immunity of Belinda Balluku. Within the week, starting tomorrow, the Special Structure has already formulated the second act for Edi Rama’s deputy. Corruption, money laundering within a structured criminal group, based on numerous evidence, will reach the Committee on Rules and Mandates.
After the first request by Edi Rama was rejected, although there were at least three vans with evidence, the investigation brings an additional chapter. Not forgetting the 16 thousand complaints sent to the Commission for months. Here the threats of the witnesses of the first dossier are not forgotten. Weeks ago, prosecutors conducted 35 inspections of apartments, offices, businesses related to the defendant Balluku. Last week, a villa in Dhërmi was seized, which the prosecution suspects that although it was in the name of Igli Tara, it is the property of the defendant. In this same investigative episode, Tare and businessman Pandeli Carapuli were taken into custody and investigated on charges of money laundering. Rama’s defense of immunity brought a fierce debate in Brussels. The EU put pressure on Rama for his influence on the justice system. By also conditioning the interim IBAR report. Now in the second test, Rama must think that the investigation has gone to his office. “The 82 mandates must hand over the defendant Balluku,” Çollaku declares.
