In the SPAK file on money laundering and corruption of Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, Fatime Kryemadhi, the mother of Monika Kryemadhi, who used to sell onions in Qyteti Studenti, plays an important role. According to the file, Meta and Monika systematically used Fatime Kryemadhi to pocket the money from affairs, hide assets and launder money. According to the file, Fatime Kryemadhi would show up with bags of cash at second-tier banks, money that was then withdrawn by Monika Kryemadhi as if it were legal.
Monika Kryemadhi collected corruption money with public assets and money. She took this money in cash to her mother Fatime Kryemadhi. Then, Mrs. Fatime put it in the banking system without any justifying documents. According to the SPAK file, in the period February-December 2009, Fatime Kryemadhi deposited 138 thousand euros in cash into Monika Kryemadhi’s accounts, an amount that Monika did not declare because she had no way to justify it.
In 2010, Fatime Kryemadhi injected hundreds of thousands of euros in cash into the banking system to cover the purchase of real estate from Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi.
In the following years, this money laundering scheme intensified. Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi filled their bags with corruption money, gave it to Fatima, and the latter deposited it in banks, which did not dare to report it to the relevant institutions. It also turns out that Monika Kryemadhi and her daughter used Fatime Kryemadhi’s credit card for various expenses abroad, purchases, hotels, etc.
During the years 2020-2022, Meta and Kryemadhi hid another 100 thousand euros in a double-name account of daughter Bora Metaj and her grandmother Fatime Kryemadhi.
SPAK’s investigations have proven a corruption academy set up by Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi.
They used the death of Fatima’s husband to launder money
Ilir Meta’s mother-in-law, Fatime Kryemadhi, has used and exploited the death of her husband to cover up money laundering and justify the purchase of an apartment in the former Bllok. Mrs. Fatime, who served as the Meta-Kryemadhi couple’s cashier or ATM, has stated that people had thrown her 100 million lek in condolences for the loss of her husband.
“ From the rental income and from the income from her job, Fatima had also bought a 1+1 apartment in a place called Dolce Vita in Durrës. She later
sold this apartment, but she did not remember either the purchase price or the sale price. Regarding the apartments she had bought from the company Bjorn shpk, Fatima stated that she had bought these apartments with the money that people had given her as consolation when her husband died. Fatima stated that she did not remember how much lek she had bought the apartments for, but she remembered that she had made the liquidation through the bank. Fatima stated that from the money that people had given her as consolation, about 100 million old lek had been collected, and the apartments she bought with this income she later exchanged for the apartment where Lefteri Haxhiu lived, at the Fratar palace in the former Bllok, where she lived with Monika. Asked what land she had sold to citizen Gentjan Sula, for the value 246,000 USD, a fact declared in the bank where Fatime had deposited the money… “, it is stated in the SPAK file.
According to the file, Meta and Monika used Fatime Kryemadhi to hide assets and launder money.
Specifically, Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, during the years 2009-2010, purchased a duplex apartment in the former Block worth 645 thousand euros, camouflaged with a loan of 335 thousand euros.
Initially, Fatime Kryemadhi deposited 310 thousand euros in cash into the bank and then repaid the 335 thousand euros loan in cash. The amount of 645 thousand euros is believed to be Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi’s corruption money.
” For the period 2009-2010, the persons under investigation, IM, MK and FK, purchased a duplex apartment located in the area known as the “former block”, declared as financed with a bank loan. The investigation resulted in the amount of 310,000 Euros that served to purchase the first floor of the duplex, being deposited in cash into the banking system by FK, and the amount of 335,000 Euros taken as a loan from FK, was also repaid with money deposited in a second-tier bank in the Republic of Albania, in March-November 2010. This money is suspected to have originated from the illegal activity of citizens IM and MK, and the bank loan was used as a cover and a way to introduce significant monetary amounts into the banking system ,” the SPAK announcement states.
Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi have also used Fatime Kryemadhi to cover the costs of aesthetic services, in one case paying 100 thousand euros from her account.
” The investigation revealed that citizens IM and MK did not declare medical expenses incurred during the period 2013-2019, in the total amount of 106,125 Euros. Of these expenses, 86,891 Euros were paid in cash. The investigations revealed that in the Annual Private Interests Declaration for 2019, submitted to the HIDACCI on May 29, 2020, these subjects did not declare health expenses in the amount of 9,000 Euros incurred in a private clinic abroad, as well as the amount of 100,000 Euros in the two-name bank account, which belong to EM and FK. Subjects IM and MK are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of “Refusal to declare, failure to declare, concealment and fraudulent declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants” provided for by Article 275/a of the Criminal Code.”
Fatime Kryemadhi: SPAK should not deal with me because I am old
Monika Kryemadhi’s mother, Fatime Kryemadhi, has appeared several times at SPAK. After leaving SPAK the last time, Fatime Kryemadhi spoke to reporters, where she said that SPAK instead of dealing with people who sell state lands, deals with an 80-year-old woman who has a house like everyone else.
” I am being investigated because I am an untouchable person, because untouchable persons are being investigated. What explanation should I give that I have my own house? I am 80 years old, I don’t have the right to buy a house? You don’t have a house? They don’t deal with those who sell pieces of the state, of the people, and they deal with me, an old woman. What statement should I give?”, she said.
