The Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) is continuing investigations within the framework of a proceeding for money laundering and suspected criminal activities, where the focus is also on the creation of an audiovisual media in Albania.
According to investigative sources, from the analysis of communications secured through the Sky ECC platform and verifications carried out at the National Business Center (NBC), it was determined that a media outlet with the trade name “Abeg TV” was created, registered as owned by Besnik Myftari.
Investigators suspect that Myftari, a former senior executive at Top Channel, is currently hiding in France. According to preliminary data, SPAK is verifying the source of funding and the media’s possible connections with members of a criminal group.

From the verifications so far, it results that about 10 well-known journalists from the Albanian media market are employed in this media.
In parallel, SPAK is also reviewing the procedures followed by the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) for licensing television and radio, as there are suspicions that the license may have been granted in violation of the law and under the influence of corrupt actions.
According to sources, in communications with members of the criminal group, Besnik Myftari informed them that he had secured the media license, while two other competitors had been disqualified from the competition.
Investigations are continuing to uncover the role of the individuals involved, as well as the source of the funds used to establish and operate the media. It is learned that Myftari demanded 90 thousand euros from the criminal group for the radio.
