Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis confirmed today (May 20) the provision of extraordinary economic aid of 150 euros for each child, which will be distributed during the month of June.
During the meeting with the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, Mitsotakis announced that this measure, initially announced in April, will include around 1 million families, representing approximately 80% of families in Greece. Thousands of families are Albanians who have been living in the neighboring country for years.
The benefit will be granted automatically, without the need for citizens to apply. The only thing beneficiaries need to do is ensure that the IBAN number of the bank account is correctly declared on the Greek tax authorities’ platform.
Who benefits?
Financial assistance is intended for families with minor children, as well as families that have dependent members, such as adult children with disabilities or inability to support themselves.
The amount to be received and the maximum income limits vary according to the number of children and family status:
For currently single people:
1 child: 150 euros (with income up to 39,000 euros)
2 children: 300 euros (up to 44,000 euros)
3 children: 450 euros (up to 49,000 euros)
4 children: 600 euros
5 children: 750 euros
6 or more children: at least 900 euros
For married families:

2 children: 300 euros (up to 45,000 euros)
3 children: 450 euros (up to 50,000 euros)

5 children: 750 euros (up to 60,000 euros)
6 or more children: 900 euros or more (up to 65,000 euros)
According to Greek authorities, out of about 1.2 million families in total, with nearly 3.3 million members, the final beneficiaries are estimated to be about 975 thousand families.
The selection and transfer of amounts will be done automatically based on the 2025 tax returns, while the total cost for the Greek state amounts to 240 million euros.
