Armand Shakaj, suspected of murdering his friend Eglant Koçi and hiding his body in the Korrës peak area, remains at large, while authorities suspect that he is still within Albanian territory.
According to journalist Igli Çelmeta in a television interview, the police have operational information that Shakaj has not crossed the country’s borders and that he has been spotted in various areas, mainly in Tirana and Elbasan. Investigators suspect that he has changed his appearance to avoid identification.
It is reported that there is information that the suspect was seen moving in the “Kosovars’ Street” area in Tirana, masked and with visible changes in appearance, including a haircut and beard.
According to him, verifications with security cameras have confirmed such movements, while it is suspected that Shakaj may be helped by known people or his social circle to evade the police.
Authorities are continuing intensive searches to locate and arrest him.
“This person turns out not to have left Albanian territory as the police have information that he is hiding within Albanian territory. Even until the day Eglant Koçi’s body was found, there was information that he was hiding in Tirana, Elbasan, in the villages of Tirana. After a few days, the police received information that Armand Shakaj had been seen in the area of Rruga e Kosovareve, moving around disguised. It is suspected that he has completely cut his hair, beard, changed his ‘look’ and clothing completely, so as not to be recognized. The police suspect that he is being helped by friends, comrades, and relatives. Thanks to the illegal activities he has previously carried out, he also has the possibility of hiding. After the police received the information that he had moved around Rruga e Kosovareve, it was confirmed by security cameras and it was true,” said Çelmeta.
