A day after the operation conducted in the village of Zalla to arrest Ylli Zalla, one of the most wanted persons in recent months in connection with the assassination attempt that occurred in Rinas, his wife Marinela Zalla has reacted.
Through a video message, she has called on the justice authorities to fully investigate the incident, insisting that her husband is innocent and is facing unjust charges. According to her, Ylli Zalla has no connection to the murder that occurred in Rinas in November last year and the truth, according to her, has not yet been revealed.
“He is being accused of the murder that occurred in Rinas last November. In injustice, Ylli is innocent. Why doesn’t the truth come out? Why doesn’t it come out who turned off the lights in the middle of Rinas for hours? Who benefits by accusing an innocent person and putting him in enmity with other people? Ylli Zalla had a broken hand at the time. Why aren’t facts sought so that the truth comes out?”, she can be heard saying in the video sent to JOQ, while further giving another version of the recent events that accompanied the police operation.
She claims that when the RENEA special forces and police officers arrived at the apartment, they opened fire, with the aim of physically eliminating her husband and not arresting him.

We recall that Ylli Zalla has been wanted since November 2025, after the discovery of an arsenal of weapons in his apartment during the investigation into the assassination attempt that took place in Rinas. In March of this year, Zalla appeared in a video posted on social media, where he called the head of the Crimes Department, Krenar Mustafa, demanding an investigation into the Rinas assassination attempt and claiming that his name had been included in investigations without evidence. In the video, he accused senior police leaders of unfairly implicating him in the incident.
Although he has been wanted for more than eight months, Zalla is suspected of staying near his residential area. His house has been the subject of several police searches, where weapons and ammunition have been seized. On February 20 of this year, police discovered another arsenal of weapons in the village of Zall, which is suspected to have belonged to the 49-year-old.
Ylli Zalla’s name has been mentioned in other criminal cases before. About 12 years ago, he was arrested for making homemade bombs, and was also investigated for activities related to the production and sale of narcotics. During that period, he was also mentioned in investigations related to suspicions of recruiting Albanian citizens for jihad. Also, years ago, he was accused of threatening the life of the owner of a cement company in Fushë-Krujë.
