New details emerge from the tragic accident in Pogradec, where Kristaq Çulaku, around 65 years old, lost his life after being accidentally injured with a rotary/fresible cutting tool while working in his apartment.
His neighbors recount the last moments of the 65-year-old’s life and the efforts to provide him with help after the accident.
One of the neighbors said she had met him that morning and that the victim had told her he was going to Korça. He then returned to the apartment and started working.
“He came here, saw the rabbits and then went and got the trocona, what was he going to do? We were surprised when we heard them calling. We came and found him dead. The ambulance arrived after half an hour,” she recounts.
Another resident said she had seen him shortly before the incident, while he was doing housework.
“He told me that the rabbits had grown up. He asked me for a small pot to plant basil in. He told me that when he returned from Korça, he would fill my gas can. I didn’t think this would happen,” says the neighbor.
She also recounts the difficult moments after the accident: “When I went, I called Kiço, Kiço. I threw water at him, but he didn’t move at all. He looked me in the eye and just said ‘of’. I called people, because I couldn’t catch him out of fear. His body was covered in blood.”
According to local residents, the 65-year-old lived alone. His two sons are in London, while his wife lives in Greece.
