For a month and a half, construction noise will no longer be heard on the coast, protected areas with a tourist function, historical centers and historic urban areas.
The decision adopted by the Council of Ministers aimed at suspending construction activities until September 15th has entered into force after publication in the Official Gazette.
Minister of Tourism, Blendi Gonxhja, says that this measure aims to guarantee the normal development of the tourist season, the protection of tourist destinations, and a more peaceful and quality environment for citizens and visitors.
“The suspension period begins with the entry into force of this decision and ends on September 15, 2026. This measure aims to guarantee the normal development of the tourist season, the protection of tourist destinations and a more peaceful and quality environment for citizens and visitors,” Gonxha writes.
During this period, works in quarries, points of extraction, processing and use of inert materials, as well as related activities, are suspended. Construction works are also prohibited from the excavation and foundation laying phase until the completion of the erection of the structure’s carbine, as well as any activity that causes noise, dust or environmental pollution.
The suspension also applies to construction works outside these areas, in cases where, due to their nature, location or manner of exercise, they affect or may affect the normal development of tourist activity. Anyone who does not comply with this decision will face a fine of 2 million lek.
Excluded from the suspension are interior finishing works and minor works carried out after the completion of the erection of the carbine, as well as the erection or arrangement of construction sites, within the time slot 08:00–17:00.
The decision clarifies that the suspension period will be calculated as an additional period over the construction permit period.
