Two fires continue to be monitored in the Elbasan region, the most problematic situation in Mali i Dardhës

The battle with the fire outbreaks in the Elbasan region continues, where emergency structures and fire services have been working for several days to isolate and extinguish the flames. According to official data, two active outbreaks currently remain under monitoring, one in the village of Shqiponjë in the Prrenjas municipality and the other in Mali i Dardhës in the Librazhd municipality.

The most complicated situation is in the forest massif of Mali i Dardhës, in the Hotolisht Administrative Unit, Librazhd Municipality, where the fire has been active for eight days. According to information from the field in Mali i Dardhës, the fire was isolated to about 90% this Thursday morning, while the area burned by the flames is estimated at at least 6 hectares. This is a surface fire, while an inspection and monitoring of the area is planned for today to prevent any possible reactivation.

In yesterday’s firefighting operation on Dardha Mountain in an extremely difficult area, 8 fire service personnel were deployed, supported by 3 forestry sector employees, who worked to neutralize the last fire.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the fires in Shqiponjë, Prrenjas, and in the village of Mjekës, Elbasan, were brought under full control yesterday. Last night, the Elbasan fire service announced that the fire in Mjekës was completely extinguished, while local government authorities announced that fortunately there was no danger to homes or the 400 kV electrical substation, while forces on the ground continue monitoring to avoid reactivation of the flames.
12 firefighting vehicles and dozens of emergency workers have been deployed on the ground.
